Weekly updates

Notes and Turkey

The notes are up. Sorry to be so brief, but gotta run. Have a good holiday.

Almost there

The notes for the past week have been uploaded. Enjoy your weekend.

3days
Three more fascinating days of lecture, can you make it?

Exams and quizzes

A few new grades added to your lecture grades section, including the latest exam and quizzes. There was a scaling error in the last quiz grade, so you may notice yours increased slightly. Also, notice that your lowest score in each category is now dropped.

Enjoy your weekend.

No lecture notes to upload, but the lab scores have been updated.

No class on Tuesday and no lab next week.

Enjoy the time off. Only 733 hours left.

Happy Hallow's End

Studying is important, but I hope you have some fun this weekend, too.

The lecture notes have been uploaded, as well as the latest lecture quiz scores.

Couldn't get the notes up before we left for Zion. Sorry about the delay, but they are up now.

Papers due this week

The lecture notes are up.

Not that I should need to remind you, but your papers for the lab are due this week IN LAB. They must be turned in by Tuesday evening at the latest.

End of Week 7

We have our second exam this coming Tuesday. This will cover the topics of general cell structure, energy and enzymes and membranes and transport.

The grades for the latest lecture quizzes (not counting yesterday) have been uploaded.

The Nobel Prizes were awarded this past week; did you notice?

Tomorrow

The notes for the week have been uploaded, and I put new scores in for lab. I should have updated lecture quiz scores later.

This Saturday (TOMORROW) is the last day to register to vote. Just do it right now while you're on the computer.

Here's a little YouTube action. Its a bit too long, and kinda sassy, but entertaining.

(caution: some naughty words)

I think I'm caught up.

All the grades and notes have been uploaded... except for this week's lab quizzes.

Next week we'll finish enzymes and then complete the chapter on cells before moving on to even more fascinating topics.

By the way, you can read about Stanley Meyer's water car project here. I was wrong, he isn't in prison, he's dead. He did get sued and lost, though.

Here's a sample research paper from a former student. Please look at the way it is formatted and composed.

Slooow

I'll apologize early in the semester, but I won't be terribly fast at grading written exams. Some of my other courses use scantrons for grading. Those are nearly immediate and only require tallying, putting into gradebooks, etc. I have to grade each of yours by hand and I don't want to rush through them.

In most cases I will have them graded within two lecture days, but please be patient.

There are no new notes to add, enjoy your weekend.

Late update

Sorry for the delay, the notes are up now.

I've graded the first lecture and lab quizzes. I'll put the grades up later this weekend.

EDIT: Grades for both lecture and lab have been uploaded.

Weekend 2

On the schedule I have yesterday listed as a quiz day, where I would tally your iClicker scores for a quiz grade. Since we have only had ONE day with them, I think I'll go another day before working up the first average.

The notes for the week are available. Be sure to be thinking of a research paper topic over the weekend. Something you are interested in that is also related specifically to cell biology.
